What does great male allyship actually look like day to day?

For this Inside Track session, we're bringing together three brilliant male allies from very different areas of the food industry: Peter Bufton, Product Line Director at Cargill; Andrew Agnew, Head of Sales at Kepak; and Gary Rowland, Group Head of Learning & Development at Dunbia.

We'll have an honest conversation about what allyship looks like in their worlds – from the factory floor and people development to commercial and senior leadership.

Drawing on findings from MBW's latest Gender Representation Report, we'll explore the huge influence managers can have on whether people feel supported, progress and stay within our industry – and, most importantly, the practical things we can all do to make a difference.

Rather than being a standalone initiative, we'll talk about the everyday actions that matter - like spotting someone's potential before they see it themselves, making sure another voice is heard, starting a career conversation or giving someone the confidence to take their next step.

Expect real experiences, practical ideas and small actions you can take back to your own team.

What will we talk about?

  • What good allyship looks like in everyday leadership

  • Why managers can have such an impact on people's confidence and progression

  • How to spot potential in people who might not put themselves forward

  • Simple ways to give people opportunities, visibility and a voice

  • The small behaviours that help create teams where everyone can thrive

Who is this session for?

Everyone! You don't need to be a senior leader, or a man to be an ally!

Whether you're managing a team, taking your first steps into leadership or simply want to be a better colleague, you'll leave with practical ideas for how you can support and champion the people around you.
