Lizzie Martin PCC, is head of coaching and training at Work Life Mother (WLM). With a decade of management experience at John Lewis and Waitrose, Lizzie transitioned into leadership coaching during her first maternity leave, driven by a passion to address the challenges of returning to work after parental leave and gender inequity in the workplace. Her mission is to make the world a place where you don't have to choose between parenthood and a successful career.
In her role as the head of coaching and training at WLM, Lizzie focuses on transforming the landscape of parental transition in the workplace. Leveraging her background, she specialises in helping women and new parents returning to work after maternity leave, fostering an environment for them to not only return seamlessly but also thrive in career progression and leadership roles.
WLM's initiatives are built on three key pillars: coaching employees navigating various forms of parental leave, empowering managers to offer optimal support during this significant career transition, and consulting with organisations to enhance the end-to-end people experience related to parental leave.
"I am on a mission to change the narrative that you have to pick between being a parent or having a successful career."
People often say Lizzie is approachable, down-to-earth, and fun to work with. Think of her as the friend who's not afraid to push you when you need it most—the one who helps you bring out your absolute best.
Outside of her professional work, Lizzie lives in West Sussex and enjoys going on bike rides with her husband and two children. This balance between work and family life not only enriches her own experiences but also fuels her dedication to creating positive changes at the intersection of career and parenthood.
Lizzie's coaching and training programmes aim to empower individuals and contribute to organisational goals such as improved retention, stronger female talent pipelines, enhanced workforce well-being, and an overall improved employee experience. Currently engaged with Noble Foods, Global Data, The British Library, Google, and several other organisations, Lizzie continues to drive positive change in the professional landscape.
