After a hiatus in 2023, the Australian Meat Business Women National Conference is returning. This year, hosted by the new Australian Territory Partner, Stacey McKenna, the conference will take place at the Hyatt Place, Melbourne Essendon Fields on Wednesday 20 March.

The conference will centre around our Meat Business Women's global campaign, #ThePowerOfYou, which aims to empower individuals and drive inclusivity in the meat industry. The Meat Business Women's 2023 Global Gender Representation report inspired our campaign. The report reveals increased inclusion since 2020, with more women in top roles like board members, directors, and CEOs. Yet, the number of women in the meat industry has decreased, especially in junior positions.

Therefore, the #ThePowerOfYou campaign encourages you to recognise your primary strengths and abilities, respond by elevating your voice and initiating action, and reciprocate through exchanging experiences and imparting your skills and knowledge to others.

Attendees will benefit from a practical and insightful workshop hosted by our facilitator, Michelle Redfern, a leader in gender equality and diversity, on how women can reach their full potential by deeply understanding leadership and the skills they need to develop and demonstrate.

In addition, award-winning founder of She Lion Group and Walk Fearlessly Pty Ltd, and the Director of Employee Strategy + Experience at Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers, Kate Dillon, will deliver a pragmatic session concentrated on mastering your brand, clarifying your goals, and leveraging your unique value to seize opportunities.

More details and the complete conference program will be released soon.

Alongside the #ThePowerOfYou theme, Meat Business Australia is spotlighting incredible women within the meat industry with the One to Watch Award as a critical strategy to support the progression of women in our industry. We're investing a prize of $5000 AUD for the winner to support their growth and development. Nominations are now open and close Friday, 23 February, at 5 pm AEDT. Visit the One to Watch page for more details.

We will end our conference with a networking function to celebrate our finalists and winner of the One to Watch Award and present an opportunity for attendees to inspire, network, and grow their connections within the meat industry.

"I'm excited to bring to life the first Meat Business Women Conference as the new Australian Meat Business Women Territory Partner. I am confident attendees will walk away inspired, gaining valuable and practical skills they can use to aid them in their career development and, in turn, make a more inclusive and diverse Australian meat industry by harnessing #ThePowerOfYou," said MBW Australia Chair Stacey McKenna.

"I'm also eager to celebrate young and aspirational women with our One to Watch Award. I see this as a golden chance to connect with others, fostering growth and career development in the meat industry."
