Newton Europe begins two-year Partnership with Meat Business Women

Newton joins Meat Business Women as strategic partner

Newton has confirmed its commitment to supporting gender diversity, equality and inclusion across the global meat and food supply chain by signing a two-year strategic partnership with Meat Business Women.

In 2023, Newton worked with The Grocer to launch six Female Power Lists. The carefully curated lists were designed to celebrate the achievements of female leaders and spotlight the gender diversity challenges still faced across the food and drink industry. After featuring Meat Business Women’s founder and global chair, Laura Ryan, on ‘the ten most powerful women in the meat industry’ list Newton and Meat Business Women aligned to discuss the key issues found in the 2023 Global Gender Representation Report. This included improving the pipeline of entry-level talent and ensuring the industry retains and develops women at middle and senior level.

Meat Business Women and Newton will be working together to develop and empower employees, retain and attract new talent and collaborate on a new industry-leading gender balance initiative.

As a strategic partner, Newton will provide expertise and input into the group’s strategic direction and support its wider mission of raising the profile of women in the meat industry. In an industry-first, Newton and Meat Business Women will partner to deliver an event which will bring together and engage leaders of meat and food processors to make a commitment to creating a more gender balanced and inclusive industry for all. More details of this will follow in the coming weeks.

Emily Deer, director at Newton says: “We are thrilled to be working with Meat Business Women as a strategic partner. Led by women for women, they have recognised the issues facing the industry and are driving hard to make the changes. It is amazing to see Meat Business Women invigorating female passion for the industry and promoting careers in the meat industry as a positive choice.”

Harriet Wilson, partnerships director at Meat Business Women, says: “We are delighted that Newton  has joined the Meat Business Women family as a strategic partner and look forward to working closely with their brilliant team. From our research, we know that moving inclusion up the agenda for businesses is key to increase gender representation, so we are excited to collaborate on an impactful project together to support this in our first year.”

Meat Business Women is the United Nation’s recognised global professional network for women working across the meat industry. It was created to improve the sustainability of the meat sector and grow the pipeline of female talent in this male dominated arena.
